New York, NY, May 28, 2024 – Prints.org, a leading online platform dedicated to the appreciation and collection of fine art prints, is thrilled to announce its latest exhibition, “Elegance in Ink: Masterpieces of Japanese Prints.” This highly anticipated showcase will feature an exquisite selection of Japanese woodblock prints, celebrating the profound artistry and cultural heritage of Japan.

The exhibition will open on June 15, 2024, and run through August 31, 2024. It will be available both online and in a special physical gallery setup at Prints.org’s New York headquarters. “Elegance in Ink” promises to be a visual feast, bringing together works from renowned artists such as Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Hiroshige, and Kitagawa Utamaro, among others. The collection spans from the Edo period to the modern era, providing a comprehensive look at the evolution of this beloved art form.

“We are excited to present this unique collection of Japanese prints,” said Sarah Thompson, Curator at Prints.org. “These works not only showcase the technical prowess and creative genius of their creators but also offer a window into the rich cultural tapestry of Japan. This exhibition aims to inspire both seasoned collectors and newcomers to the world of Japanese art.”

Highlights of the exhibition include Hokusai’s iconic “The Great Wave off Kanagawa,” Hiroshige’s tranquil landscapes from “The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō,” and Utamaro’s delicate portraits of beautiful women. Each piece has been meticulously selected for its artistic significance and historical value. Additionally, the exhibition will feature a series of educational events, including virtual lectures, panel discussions, and live demonstrations of traditional woodblock printing techniques.

Prints.org has also partnered with several prestigious institutions and private collectors to bring together these masterpieces, some of which are being exhibited for the first time outside of Japan. This collaboration underscores the platform’s commitment to fostering global appreciation and understanding of Japanese prints.

To enhance the viewing experience, Prints.org has developed an interactive online gallery that allows visitors to explore each print in high resolution, accompanied by detailed descriptions and historical context. This digital format ensures that art enthusiasts from around the world can enjoy the exhibition, regardless of their location.

Tickets for the physical exhibition at Prints.org’s New York gallery are available now and can be purchased through the Prints.org website. The online exhibition is free to access, providing an inclusive opportunity for everyone to experience the beauty and intricacy of Japanese prints.
